|
| Large moulded water pitcher, moulded footrim, scalloped bowl, moulding decoration below the neck ribbed up to a wide mouth
moulded top rim running into the decorative handle. The transfer decoration is of a turretted building with two female figures in front of a
stone arbour set in a rural landscape, with spired church and mountains in the distance. The border includes floral vignettes. Formerly part
of the Grant Davidson Collection ref E 867, the only defect that this superb Swansea water pitcher exhibits is a Firing crack along the line
of the moulding join, 50mm across the base showing internally 50mm up the front of the jug. The jug still remains water tight. Bears the
scroll cartouche of the Baker, Bevans & Irwin partnership operating from the Glamorgan Pottery in Swansea 1813-1838.
